Education: Tips to Help Your Child in School
- Every child is expected to be at school on time.
- Have your child get school supplies ready the night before so there’s no rush in the morning.
- Be sure your child gets 9-12 hours of sleep to maintain a sharp mind and a healthy body.
- Contact the school if your child is sick and not able to go to school.
- Make sure the school has your current contact information (phone, address and workplace) so the school can contact you about your child.
- Encourage your child to talk at home about his or her school day.
- Check your child’s backpack for school notes from teachers as well as homework assignments.
- Go over homework together.
- Read with your child or tell stories every day.
- Volunteer at your child’s school.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and special events at your child’s school.
