HEALTHCARE

Everybody gets sick or needs to see a doctor from time to time. It is important to find a doctor or nurse practitioner who can take care of you and your family. This medical person will get to know you and figure out the best way to take care of you.

Mercer County has many doctors and nurse practitioners. (A nurse practitioner is a person with medical training who can take care of most simple medical problems.) For a list of doctors and nurse practitioners in Mercer County, CLICK HERE.

Doctors and nurse practitioners require payment.

If you work, ask your Human Resource (HR) staff about insurance coverage for you and your family.

If you are not able to get insurance:

  • all pregnant women born in the Marshall Islands and in the United States can apply for public insurance (Medicaid) in Ohio. They should apply and see a doctor as soon as they know they are pregnant.
  • Mercer County Hospital (in Coldwater) and Urgent Care (in Celina) offer a discounted price if you do not have insurance.
  • The doctors’ office may also offer a discounted price if you do not have health insurance.
  • To apply for the discounted price, you must complete and sign the HCAP form.
  • The HCAP form will also be on the back of the statement bill from Mercer Health. It must be filled out and signed and sent to Mercer Health.
