DRIVING

  • If you want to drive a car, you must have a valid driver’s license. Learn more at the Celina Deputy Registrar License Agency, 320 Portland St., Celina, Ohio. Phone: 419-586-7144.
    • You must pass a written test and a driving test to qualify for a driver’s license.
    • You will not receive your driver’s license immediately because you need to receive clearance from Homeland Security.
  • Purchase car insurance as soon as you purchase a car.
  • You’ll also need a license plate and registration for your car, which you can also obtain at the Deputy Registrar License Agency.
  • Once you are driving:
    • While in a vehicle, all persons MUST wear a seatbelt. All children under the age of 6 and under 60 pounds must be in a car seat or booster seat. The car seat or booster seat must be in the back seat.
      • If you cannot afford to buy a car seat, go to the Mercer County Health Department, 220 W. Livingston St., Room B 152, Celina, Ohio, for help with this.
      • It is against the law to smoke in your car if there is a child 14 years old or younger in the car.
    • Driving while you are drunk is illegal. If you are caught, you will get a ticket, a fine and possibly go to jail.
    • Call 911 for emergency help in case of an accident.
