The Mercer County Health District wants to help keep you healthy. It wants to help your children grow up to be their best.
At the Health Department you can:
- Get a birth certificate if you or your child were born in Ohio. You must pay $28 to get a birth certificate.

- Birth certificate hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Get immunizations (shots) for children and adults that will help prevent diseases.
- If you do not have insurance for shots, you cannot be turned away for an inability to pay.
- Call ahead for an appointment.
- Get a carseat free for baby and child up to 8 years old.
- Call ahead for an appointment.
- Get yourself or your child checked free for lice.
- If you have lice, you can buy shampoo from us that will control the lice.
- Get lead testing done for adults and children by fingerstick.
- Call ahead for an appointment.

IMMUNIZATIONS
Your babies and older children need shots to keep them safe from sickness.
Bring your babies or children to the Health Department when they are:
- 2 months of age
- 4 months of age
- 6 months of age
- 12 months of age
- 18 months of age
- After 4 years before Kindergarten
- After 11 years before 7thGrade
- After 16 years before 12thGrade
Children can get a yearly flu shot after 6 months of age.
Adults can get vaccines too from the Health Department. Adults are never too old for vaccines!
Babies need shots at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months.
Children need shots before kindergarten, but after they are 4 years.
Before 7thgrade, but after they are 11 years.
Before 12thgrade, but after they are 16 years.
Everyone 6 months old and older needs a yearly flu shot.
Adults are never too old for shots.
